I know your time is valuable. These show notes give you the gist of the episode, what is covered, any links or resources talked about in the show, and also gives you a few ways to listen, watch or digest this episode.
This episode’s topic, in a nutshell…
This conversation is going to show you one example of just how following your own intuition is so important and how this blends nicely into shaping a version of yourself that you are happy to share with the world.
I chat to my university friend, Ryan Enslin, a really soul-driven, creative travel journalist who has the special talent of turning photography and words into beautiful works of story-telling art.
Highlights
In this episode we unpack:
- How Ryan came to do the work he does today and what he is “known for” (Hint: he is actually a qualified accountant and worked in the corporate finance world for many years.)
- What his definition is of ‘personal brand’ and what this looks like for him
- His comfort level of putting himself in front of the camera / content. (He used to be a travel influencer on Instagram, until his account got hacked and he had to really work out what we wanted to be and come across as, after that)
- The big and small career shifts he has had, and how he navigated having to then become known for, or talking publicly about something new.
- The specific point just after Covid where he made a conscious decision to shift how and why he did his writing and photography
- What being “in the flow” looks like for him. The time when he is most energised, happy, calm, centred…and time just flies. (The “genius” zone).
For me, I think that Ryan is a great example to all of us to learn how to listen to our instincts, get comfortable with who we are and what we want, and to go out there into the world and be open to whatever may come from that.
I’ve been following his online work sharing for years and it really speaks to what drives, motivates and is important to him. I would definitely say that he makes it easy for people to really “get” who he is – even from a distance.
My theory is that the better you are with being more you, more of the time – the more joy and connection will come your way in working with the humans you most want to work with.
