The Reality Behind Working On Your Personal Brand
Personal brand is a validating and deep process
I know your time is valuable. These show notes give you the gist of the episode, what is covered, any links or resources talked about in the show, and also gives you a few ways to listen, watch or digest this episode.
This episode’s topic, in a nutshell…
My client Jane and I walk through her experiences and mine – in doing her personal brand strategy work together.
We talk about the reality of doing this deep work and the impact it is already having on how she navigates her work life.
Highlights
In this episode, Jane and I unpack:
- How Jane was initially sceptical about the idea of having a ‘personal brand’ – and what changed her perception (hint: it was listening to the series of experts on Brand Compass show)
- Why, after nearly 30 years in her profession, Jane started asking whether she had something worthwhile to contribute to the wider conversation about how law is practised.
- What it was like for Jane to complete the different exercises I gave her, like:
- Backstory (and how reflecting over the course of your own life can reveal connections to ‘current day you’ that you hadn’t spotted before)
- Strengths (which can uncover why some jobs / work were just not a great fit to where your strengths lie as a person)
- Values and Principles (how values and character traits can be tracked back to early years)
- Thought leadership – points of view (taking time to actually think about what you THINK, can be challenging – but highly rewarding)
- The idea that personal brand strategy can give you the leverage to get more traction with what you already know and believe, rather than requiring you to become someone different.
I’m hoping that by inviting Jane to come and share her side of things in working with me and on her own personal brand strategy – this has given you some context and perspective as to what this can look like for you.
Want to work together?
When I work with you – I will challenge you, encourage you and also spot things that you have missed or not noticed about yourself. It helps working closely with someone who is solely focused on you, and only you.
No distractions. Just your ideas, your feelings, your thoughts, your aspirations, and even your frustrations…in a confidential and private space.
I see my role as championing the human spirit and voice. Helping you to be clearer in how you express yourself, demonstrate your expertise and in positioning your knowledge so everyone knows why you are the obvious choice.
I would hope you now see the benefit of that – versus dropping questions into an AI chatbot that is appeasing you with smartly worded generic answers.
